Dea-scéal ar fad! Bhí bua iontach ag na cailíní ón nGaelscoil i gcraobh Sciath na Scol (Roinn 1) i bPáirc Uí Chaoimh. Chuaigh gach uile pháiste ó Rang 3- Rang 6 ann chun féachaint ar foireann na scoile ag imirt i gcoinne Scoil Náisiúnta na nUamhanna (Ovens National School). Taispeántas peile a bhí ann le bua laidir : GCUL 0-16 Ovens 2-1. Bhronn an tAire Michael McGrath na boinn ar an bhfoireann is bhí an scoil go leir an-bhródúil ar fad astu. Ar aghaidh linn an ghaelscoil, ar aghaidh linn!
Alt ón Southern Star scríofa ag Múinteoir Nóra:
On a sunny Monday, 13th November the county finals of Sciath na Scol were held in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Gaelscoil Charraig Uí Leighin knew they would be up against tough competition from Ovens N.S. who had beaten them in the lead up to the Ladies Football Final. With 6 bus loads in full voice, GCUL could be heard cheering on their team from far and near. Oven’s supporters sang in full voice alongside them.
A tough first half left Carrigaline 7 points to Ovens 1 point, both teams played with full energy and determination. A quick turnaround gave Gaelscoil Charring Uí Leighin fresh vigour steaming ahead to 16-1. The Ovens girls never gave up and came back with two stunning goals in the final few minutes but time ran out for them and the cup went to Carrigaline the year. Gaelscoil Charraig Uí Leighin 0-16 Ovens NS 2-1
What a thrill for each girl on both teams to play in Páirc Uí Chaoimh ón such a fine day. The future looks bring for Ladies Football in Cork. Comhghairdeas le cailíní na Gaelscoile i gCarraig Uí Leighin.
